Why does my home phone not have a dial tone, and how can I fix it?

Any standard telephony service should have a dial tone on the line.

If you do not hear any dial tone when you lift your receiver, then please try using a different handset and ensure it is properly connected to the wall socket.

If you are still unable to hear a dial tone, then perform an isolation test by disconnecting all telephony devices attached to the phone socket such as a modem, fax machine, Foxtel, alarm system, or any other device.

If this still fails, please contact support and advise them of the issue so a fault can be reported, and a technician arranged to investigate if required.
